ABUJA – MEMBERS of the House of Representatives, Wednesday gave a directive to the Federal Government to imortalise Late Sam Okwaraji, a footballer that played for the national team in the late 80s.
This development was based on a motion under matters of National importance, promoted by Rep Tajudeen Yusuf, PDP, Kogi who noted that it is exactly 26years today, Wednesday, when the 24years old footballer slumped and died during a national assignment at the Surulere National Stadium in Lagos.
He further explained that the “young man was denied his insurance because he snubbed his foreign club to honour a National assignment in Nigeria”.
He said such are gestures should not be waved aside as it is the  hallmark of true patriotism exemplified by the Late Okwaraji.
